Personal electric cycling technology is facing a huge shift around the world. The continuous progress of battery technology has brought about many new lightweight electric riding transportation tools such as electric balance vehicles, Electric Scooter Fat Tire,Electric Bicycle Tire, Bicycle tyre , electric bicycles, and electric motorcycles.

The first version of ANSI/CAN/UL-2272 was released on 21 November 2016 to evaluate electric balance vehicles. After more than two years of precipitation, it was revised on February 25, 2019, and the product category was changed from a single electric balance vehicle to all personal electric riding equipment that meet the requirements of the standard range, such as electric scooters and electric skateboard shoes. The standard includes a series of requirements such as parts requirements, electrical performance, mechanical performance, environmental testing, motor testing, etc. For the first time, it is proposed that the protection line of the lithium battery of the electric balance car or scooter needs to verify its functional reliability, ensure that the lithium ion battery works in its normal working range, and prevent the occurrence of overcharging, excessive discharge or high temperature work. This effectively improves security. UL provides testing and certification of UL 2272 personal electric riding tools and assesses the safety of electrical drivetrains and battery and charger system combinations.
